Amit Jain, Ar. Rishi Vora, Ar. Mehul Sanghvi : : : : : : : : : : : Acting is a dynamic and creative profession which calls for socialization and interaction with varied people , surroundings , and even our own selves. Nature follows guidelines similar to that of Evolution such that a species lifecycle through generations tallies with an ASPIRING ACTOR’S journey. It can be observed that both, a species or a newbie have to ADAPT to the new cultural environment which may or may not be in accordance with their comfort. Herein, EVOLUTION plays its role. The initial struggles and efforts of the artist are accompanied with a number of anecdotes that provide exposure to the art of understanding and evolving with respect to the demands of diverse roles , which is then followed by SELF IDENTIFICATION of his/her SUITABILITY towards a genre after multiple trials, as every actor is not suitable for every role, but SPECIFIC to one . In both cases it is an EXPLORATIVE process wherein both REJECTION and SELECTION occurs. Complying to the above factors, an evolutionary form should not only aim towards accepting the persona of the user but also rejecting inefficient traits in order to flourish the Suitability of the artist with respect to his/her Self- Identification in the profession , this can also be viewed with the lens of Discipline. The advent of steel beams, Sections enabled architects to widen their frame of imagination. The mechanical properties of steel; Simplicity in use and its speed of construction makes steel versatile as Structural material. The intent of the project was to explore Steel as a construction material for the design of a school. To simplify the learning process only the Admin blocks, Dining block, 4 classrooms, and a toilet block was to be detailed. The admin-Dining has a common vault roof. This is structurally resolved by designing trusses perpendicular to the direction of the vault. These Vierendeel trusses enable a larger clear span. The columns are made up of ISWB 300 sections and are encased in concrete. The corridors and the classrooms have a system of bowstring trusses that support the arch-shaped roofs. Sanjay Mehta : Studio Conductors : : : Video Links : The word ‘play’ is defined as a meaningful act that is carried out for its own sake with its fundamental motive being the experience it affords. Some facets of play are evidently depicted in projects with comparatively good budgets and freedom of space but as the restrictions get more imposing, the projects tend to become more utilitarian, and ‘playful’ designing is not given enough priority. This study approached an understanding of play and focused on comparatively analyzing the built and lived spaces of slum rehabilitation societies in Mumbai. Then by utilizing the findings in the architectural setting of social housing in Rizvi Residency, Santacruz, this project aimed to express the needs of the users through the design process by reinterpreting mundane everyday spaces and objects. Social housing has been reinterpreted in terms of user engagement and their voluntary participation in the choice of their own home where units were designed on the basis of occupancy with users having a choice in their space requirements. Healthy living is promoted with ample courts to provide each unit with light and ventilation with creating spaces assimilating social living outside of individual homes to establish community interactions and holistic living.

Narrative: A Wellness center is a very essential part for people in this urban society due to the integrated health solutions they provide to both mind and body. Location plays a very important part in the making of any wellness center. Here, our location is the city of Alappuzha in the state of Kerala, India. As this city is located near the waterfront, it creates the perfect setting along with the tropical climate. It is a place with less amount of population that adds up to the beauty of the site and the overall motive of this project. We start with the basic idea of proposing such spaces that respond to such a setting and are designed to allow the maximum amount of natural light and ventilation. All the buildings are centered with a courtyard and many green pockets that create breathing space and a kind of openness in the plot. There is an emphasis on earthy elements such as the use of stone, timber, natural fences. The horizontal expanse of the structure is well balanced with the verticality of the planes formed by the diverse vegetation. We are also proposing congregation spaces for users where they could get some hands-on experiences and help them connect more with nature. Along with this, things like comfort, accessibility, and aesthetics are equally paid attention to. The path gradients are very carefully calculated to minimize fatigue and provide subtle pause points. Gardens are proposed to encourage walking as a form of exercise and act as a barrier from urban noise and smoke.

Narrative: The Designer’s Square is aimed at creating a dynamic studio with an amalgamation of formal and informal spaces within a minimal area. The user interaction with the site is comprehended by distinguishing public and private zones by incorporating indigenous Wada architecture in the form of space orientation; inclusion of courtyards, terraces, and openings. The playful patterns at the entrance of the café develop an intriguing fascination amongst the road commuters. Its vibrant interiors and lush green courtyards enliven the interiors. An innovative staggering is adopted instead of the typical stacking of containers developing cantilevered closed spaces and open terraces as informal discussion spaces. The landscape mates with the form and creates dramatic pause points for one to contemplate and work alongside the green scapes enclosed within large openings. In addition to reusing the shipping containers, the project utilizes recyclable materials to boost sustainability. Installations of discarded glass bottles, which can be designed by regular visitors of the cafe; in conjunction with seatings made of car tires and cane, while the use of bicycle wheels creates an inviting roof for the pavilion. Timber frames, steel, and glass assimilates with the corrugated form of the container and also blend with the design.

The project started by making various sketches and finalizing one form and figuring out the dimensions of the product. This was achieved by producing process models and exploring with the material.the shapes were divided in two categories- span and height. The next step was to make casts for making RCC models. The casts were made from sunboard material. They were filled with cement concrete and reinforcements of steel wires. The concrete took 2-3 days to dry up. The products were then de-moulded and documented.

Karan Danda Ar. Amey Ghosalkar Ar. Saurabh Mhatre Ar. Rohit Shintre : : : : : : : : : : : The intention of the project was to come up with forms using basic operations like addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Addition is where units of different shape and size come together to form a single form. Each unit can be different in terms of scale, shape, size etc. Subtraction is where small volumes are removed from one big volume and this resulting mass is used to generate an experience. Division is where spaces are separated by only a few partitions and are seamless in nature thereby establishing a flow. Multiplication is where a single unit of same size, scale, shape is rotated, stacked or interlocked together to form one large volume. Spaces can be made interesting using these operations. The exercise started off with sketching around initial ideas, looking at some projects that used these principles and then by concretizing them by making plans and 3d models.
