Venkat Ashok, Ar. Pradeep Pavithran : : : : : : : : : : : The movie revolves around two characters Julie and Julia and their life. It tells us how two people can have some major overlaps regarding their life situation, behavior etc. Despite being in two different time frames, how a person can be inspired from the other, and how closely they connect themselves to the character that they start reflecting their ideologies, mannerisms, behavior etc. Can a person influence people so much that they idolise everything about them? Even without meeting them, can a space bring this emotion? Furthermore, the movie appreciates the art of French cooking. Both these characters would cook to escape reality even if it was for a brief period of time. Both the characters were also very eager to share their experiences or knowledge with a larger audience. Can a space be made that allows the users to practice their hobbies and escape reality? Julie managed to do that in her home kitchen, she wasn’t exactly happy with the compact space but the activity and her admiration for her role model ‘Julia’ helped Julie to take up a challenge and practice her hobby allowing her to escape reality. Dhaval Jain : : : : : : : : : : : The enclosure of the port, the shoreline and the cityscape of Beirut was leading to a social unrest among the people of Beirut. The aim is to create a new cityscape that offers the citizens an ownership of the place by creating permeable spaces that can be used to house all sorts of social activities to increase social bonding and unity. This can help people to locate the port from the city as well as from the shore. The design of the Beirut Port is based on the main idea of making it human centric and aims to establish a relationship between what is lost and the remains of the explosion, which will help in giving a new identity to the port. The intent is to use architecture as a medium to foster the economy. The programs are mainly divided into two parts : The port and the public programs. In the public sector, Maritime institute is introduced in order to increase the awareness of the functioning of the port and to provide employment along with the residential institute with the language of using terraces and kinetic facade to help in increasing the sociability of the structure. Shweta Sonakia : : : : : : : : : : : What are upland hay meadows? Hay - Grass is primarily annually cut to procure fodder for livestock. Meadows - small to medium-sized grasses with wildflowers Upland - found on Moderately sloping sites between 200m and 400m altitude. They are commonly confused with grasslands, but upland hay meadows are Flowering grasslands with a rich diversity of species Cut annually for hay, keeping them short & medium-sized Can vary from half an acre to hundreds of acres And they do not have TREES! (why? Well, it's too cold or snowy for trees to grow However, climate change is causing these natural meadows to get overrun by trees.) The main picturesque feature is that they are covered with white pristine snow during the winters, blooming with bright flowers during the autumn, and lay with monochrome yellow ochre shades in summer, ready to be cut for hay. The community occurs in northern England, where many examples are in enclosed fields in upland areas, especially the northern Pennines - they occur as small patches on roadside verges, riverbanks, and hill slopes, but some occurrences are in enclosed fields within upland areas. Yagnik Bathija : : : : : : : : : : : “Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them” – George Eliot Symbiosis is the type of relationship where there is a connection between two elements while keeping in opposition (conflict). Symbiotic relations are of 4 types namely, Mutualism, Parasitism, Commensalism, Ammensalism. Can a site and ultimately the design be an example of “Mutually Symbiotic Interaction” in a place where there is a blurred edge between land and water? There are a few considerations and assumptions made before we introduce the programs: The approach is futuristic imagining the situation around 30-40 yrs down the line, where the communities reside in secularism. Considering the acceptance of new concepts, the programs are proposed (but the symbiotic relation brings the connection of retaining traditional values in the new techniques). Thus the project aims to change the way we accept “DEATH” and the process of the funeral/ burial/ cremation of the dead. The conclusion of the project takes us back to the initial case of rendering the site on a coastal edge as a symbiotically strong site with opportunities to create various such tangible as well as intangible relations of all the elements. The Design talks about the past, the present, and the future in some or the other way. Previous Next Nostalgic Park

Narrative: The Big Bang Theory apartment was Re-Visioned, taking the users and their primary requirements as per functionality and personality. The chief decisions were based on the facts that our users are tenants, Scientists, pragmatism favourites and amicably adorable Sci-fi fanatics. The spaces are envisioned for them as well as their small circle of friends. The existing social and intimate zones have been given a personalized character through introduction of newer appliances, lighting strategies, furniture, floating ceilings, action figurines and new-old possessions. The one thing that has guided all the design decisions is the need for Logic and Reason. Issues between Sheldon and Leonard over tinier things are here, tried to be resolved using “Practically Personalized” design calls.

Venkat Asho, Ar. Pradeep Pavithran : : : : : : : : : : : Institutions are the kinds of structures the deeply matter in the social realm, since they structure social interactions, and their efficient design can usefully constrain and enable human behaviour. The main highlight of the design is that it is predominantly user - centric. The site is adjacent to a communal Waadi, where people with various skill sets and experience stay. The approach of the design was to create common lower floors, with metal and cloth workshops to welcome the people of the Waadi to enhance and showcase the skill, whilst using the equipment of the institute, but also sharing their skills with the students, who also benefit. The institution thus proposed is a school for fashion designing, cloth fabrication, product design and art, which require similar equipment. Additionally, the use of legible spaces to enable users to navigate clearly, the design of double - heighted, open classrooms to facilitate the process of learning and applying in connected studios and classrooms, and the application of light and colours, taking into consideration the time of the day, to create spaces which are sensitive to functions in rooms are some of the principal highlights of the design. The structure, designed for the app, Nike run, is a pavilion that sustains human interference. The pavilion design uses the two main functions of the app, Guidance, and Sampling, as cue words. The periphery of the structure comprises louvers that create shadow patterns on the base and thus serve the purpose of sampling via light. The form is such that the entry and exit are not visible. In that case, what guides is the light entering the structure and the form itself. The structure demands public interaction, and thus, the site selected for installation is Mumbai's Marine Drive. Sanjay Mehta : : : : : : : : : : : https://issuu.com/aoa_confluence_2022/docs/shivani_pisat_43_dd_book : Studio Conductors : : : Cities of India were greatly influenced and moulded during British Rule, which further witnessed dramatic development with the advent of Industrialization. Two elements: People and infrastructure form the foundation of the city's development and influence each other in a loop. Infrastructure is a ‘basic physical framework’ which ensures smooth working of the city and comfort of its people. Our cities have witnessed the use of infrastructure planned centuries ago like Railways, Churches, Temples, government buildings, Libraries, etc. as well as advanced proposals like Underground-elevated Metros, Bridges, Coastal roads, Flyovers, etc. These physical systems were developed and planned in a specific Time frame and it ensured the best usage then. Jail being one such system established by the Britishers which is functional even today, but Are they efficient and suffice the demands as they did 100-150 years ago? Are they relevant today? Can such infrastructure adapt to the changing perspective of the people, their demands and make them suitable for future cities? The dissertation thus put forth an inquiry of how Jails (sit right in the core, as a crumbling infrastructure) can be adapted to form an ‘Urban Courtyard’ and explored further to make it more relevant to developing smart cities. The study aims to understand the development and needs of the city, its smart future, and the impact of this growth on aging infrastructure. Adapting to the changes, the intervention can thus be an opportunity benefiting the city and its people. KEYWORDS: Old infrastructure, Jails, Time frames, Relevance, Future smart City, Adaptability, Urban courtyard नगरांगण – Exploring Jail Infrastructure as an Urban courtyard.
