Starting with gathering average anthropometric measurements of the class, the exercise moved forward with us documenting ourselves through specific postures and then imagining and sketching scenarios in which the same postures could be anticipated.
With “Sitting on a chair and eating” as my posture I had imagined two variations of the same. The “noodle soup challenge” portrayed the same action of eating but in a restaurant scenario. The second sketch describes a “inside the train” scene with me sitting crouched at the corner of the seat and eating my tiffin.
Overall, the exercise helped us in understanding human space relation
and the importance of designing spaces keeping in mind the basic human body dimensions and possible human motion.
