This networking sprawl will help the port for its better functioning thereby boosting the economy of the City of Beirut. The proposal aims to bring back the glory of Beirut port and redefine the port with respect to the urban context and make it the economical centre along with addition of cultural and social aspects as a remembrance to the event. Our proposal will offer iconic and user-friendly public spaces that are highly accessible and distinctive. The port will become a desirable place to experience and a flexible space to carry out the port activities and cater to the public realm at the same time. The public realm will offer high quality routes and spaces that will support connectivity and place making of the overall development and will highlight principles of sustainability and values of seamless connectivity from the ferry and cruise terminals to city centre. The public realm bridges the infrastructural routes in order to create a continuous and uninterrupted high line route for the users. The proposed architectural interventions are, the Passenger Terminal and the Container Housing. These interventions will help the city to gain back its economy and accommodation facilities. Rajesh Shelke : : : : : : : : : : : Through this workshop, a load-bearing structure has been created with the help of curved forms and has no use of verticals. A better understanding was developed of how each loop supports the next and load travel in such a structure from the apex to the body. The concentration of loads at nodes causes failures. If we give support at these points, the failures can be avoided. The model also has a wide base, and the walls are at an angle that gives stability to the form. The various joineries were done with the help of a thread in the process. When rolled, newspapers possess excellent compressive properties. The thicker the roll, the more the strength. It is fascinating how such a flimsy material can carry such loads, nearly six times its weight. Overall, the workshop answered the question of how height is a huge structural challenge. Most of the initial models worked well with less height, but the addition of height led to its failure. A careful and efficient design is needed to identify these points of failure and counteract them. Joineries also play a crucial role in the structure.

Located on a hilly terrain of Pahalgam in Kashmir & surrounded by the snowy woods of Deodhar, Winter woods shares the most beautiful and picturesque views of river Jhelum. Linking the contoured site, the rustic bridge guides the user to the staircase which reveals the living room with a large window that frames the streaming river & bedroom on the attic glancing at the starry skies. Through this exercise, we explored the real essence of our own house, what makes a house our own home where each family member can be themselves. The house is designed by understanding the characteristics of my family, their principles, ideologies, traditions, which have been reflected in the design. The spaces for each family member are designed on the basis of their character, hobbies, and requirements, which was understood by taking their interviews and imagining ourselves in their character, a meditative process. The design of the house is inspired by the Bangladeshi Traditions of my own family and the design also has a great influence on Charles Correa’s principles. The house sits on a very interesting site sharing its plot boundary with Vihar Lake, Powai. Porus Master abhisheks19@aoamumbai.in : : : : : : : : : Competition Brief: The theme for the competition is Contextual Design: Creating Space, Re-interpreting Tradition Narrative: Project Inside out aims at offering a multifold staying experience with nature at its core. INSIDE OUT- an idea through which the connection between user, nature and its resources is followed. Responding to the site was key for contextual design which shaped the project. The response has been explored through various frames like climate, environmental management strategies, present and past traditional values from around and much more. The design was planned around the existing natural resources and also aimed at keeping them intact. Through this design project the user gains an understanding of the past practices of self sufficiency, local traditional values and simple ways of living in a modern context. The typical architectural style of building of the nearby villages gave rise to creation of various open, semi open and private spaces, giving a holistic spatial experience. Growing the food you eat, various recycling strategies, community living, is encouraged as part of developing a culture on site and helping visitors grow a connection with the built and unbuilt environment Creating comfortable and habitable spaces via large overhangs with small outdoor courtyard spaces getting formed, share a dual purpose of blocking the south sun and cater to the concept of inside out to the very core of the project.

The arrangement of trees is a peculiar note. Also the serpentine gallery has a driveway approach.Serpentine Pavilion is located in the lawn of the Serpentine Gallery which has a main driving access and multiple radiating approaches . The site is also near to the Serpentine river and has a formal manicured landscape with various arrangements of trees. The landscape arrangement of the setting portrays a contrast in terms of tree arrangement. The tree line near the serpentine Victorian structure is linearly aligned one-point perspective to border a user walking path, inducing a sense of direction and imparts formality in user-movement. These trees are equally spaced and all being of the same type and size. On the other hand , the unequal sizes and densities of trees gives an organic informal character to the landscape setting. We observe the cloud like nature of the for. and how this organic nature merges with the sky as well as the landscape. Here we have created a color palette to show how different colors in the context create different spatial feels when perceived together, like the sky along with latticework and anti slip glass creates a limitless feel. The sky weather and lattice creates a mystical feel together, the lattice work along with the manicured landscape and sky creates a distinction between the foreground and background, whereas the contrast of the lattice work to the night sky and trees creates a focus on the pavilion at night. Interaction and Activity in a natural environment is the key focus of the competition. Narrative: The tree no longer survives in its original glory, but it’s essence surely will. Taking the phrase “Life comes a full circle” a bit literally, our aim was to give an ode to the space that the tree occupied and upheld for all these years by leaving it entirely empty, for its prestige and permanence are irreplaceable. The intervention includes a circular void in place of the current plinth with the amphitheater redesigned, staying true to its name, by providing levels which sprawl along the magnanimous area while ensuring that it caters to both large groups of people coming together to celebrate different occasions and also individuals or small groups looking for their own peace and seclusion.

We studied in depth the planning, zoning, orientation, and form envelope, openings, structure, material, roof and floor, internal layout, services, and the community layout. The outcome was a network map divided according to the four elements derived from a systematic approach based on the 'Four Elements' concept (fire, water, earth, air) that according to ancient philosophy are the origins of nature. The study of these toilets in order to create awareness of the importance of toilets in various regions was conducted. Ghops are used in the cold and cloudy region of Himachal Pradesh where water can not be used as conveniently due to the freezing temperatures. There is a pit in which the waste is collected. In this, dry mixture of wood chips, ash and animal dung is put after every use so as to help the enzyme action decompose the waste. The course intended to collect myths from various subjects like species, deities, ecosystems, cosmic beings, and habitations and to decipher and dissect each myth by putting forth the context, timeline, and purpose for it to appear.
