Narrative: The world is engulfed with unending stories all around. The notion applies not only to humans, but each living creature, as well as a non-living object that exists. The existence of one forms a story in itself. All existing ingredients of this world play a role knowingly or unknowingly in these narrations. A story can be categorized into multiple divisions. Broadly, we can summarize them as, [a] a story that somehow evolves over the time based on some incidents that takes up its form through exaggerations & cooked up details, which can be termed as rumors. [b] a story that is told from ages which eventually doesn’t confine itself to just a storyline, but becomes a belief, ritual or a superstition that can be termed as mythological fictions. [c] a story that we live daily, nothing but our experiences. As such, these stories can be placed on a timeline irrespective of its factual nature. This timeline helps us understand the originality and additions that occur to the story and how a narrative unfolds. This crucial fluidity allows for permutations and combinations to exist that help us curate our own platform to explore and read the world in our own way.

Interaction and Activity in a natural environment is the key focus of the competition. Narrative: CONCEPT Amidst the everyday hustle of the academy, the one thing that is constant is the need for a break. The design of the amphitheatre revolves around the idea of creating niches of refreshment for the students. In the current scenario, the amphitheatre is under-utilized as it is not a part of the regular movement path. The design concept aims to provide a distraction from everyday stress by making the amphitheatre a point of social attraction. DESIGN The design creates spaces that cater to individuals as well as larger groups. The space as a whole is free for creative interactions and supports various activities. The waste containers and pipes provide a unique twist to the music corner. The exercise corner promotes a healthy way of relaxation. The free flowing curvilinear frame segregates these spaces but at the same time ties these corners together to provide porosity. The central arena encourages social interaction and public gathering activities. This combined with the cultural events and activities would make the amphitheatre an integral part of an academite's life.

Harshada Bapat Shintre : Studio Conductors : : : Video Links : Urban Materials of Construction “Materials which have contributed to the construction industry to create an ideology of permanence and stability amongst other materials in the construction industry.” Urban materials of construction such as concrete and steel were initially the most viable solution when vegetal materials failed to provide for a “permanent household” or a “pukka ghar”. But now as the concern has shifted from viability to sustainability, it is essential to explore the usage of building materials that consume low energy, is renewable, vegetal and easily available. The Design Thesis proposes Engineered Bamboo as the future “Urban Material of Construction”; a material which is treated, processed and standardized. Engineered Bamboo is developed by splitting, flattening, compressing and providing with a particular cross section. Since the material is lightweight and can take sufficient amounts of load it can be used as a material designed for disassembly, modularity and the flexibility. The idea is to intervene in an area where the context has a prevalent construction of concrete and steel and the site has difficulties regarding constructing with the materials already in use. These sites generally act as small pockets to multiple large projects with amalgamated sites. An architectural strategy of scripting was adopted as a system of development of the architectural unit and built form. Scripts are Modular Architectural deviced strategies which allow for exploration in Form, Space and Structure which is to be provided to the User. These scripts act as changing elements which could universally be used in a set unit design. Three types of scripting strategies are used- Service Scripts, Volume Scripts and Structural Scripts Service Script revolves around the concept of demarcation of an Area with respect to Served and Service spaces. The idea of Scripts is an addition where Service spaces are allowed to be flexible and replaceable with respect to the current User consuming the Space. Volume Script allows for flexibility in the volumetric aspect during lack of variability and adaptability in the planning due to designing compact areas and facing space crunch. The concept of scripts includes additive and subtractive operations conducted on a base script. Structural Script includes different kit of parts of the structural unit of an apartment when combined together completes the designed scheme. The idea is for the structure to not be permanent rather a changing intervention as per the owner of the building which is possible with the help of Dry Construction system of Engineered Bamboo. As an intervention on small sites, it is important to note the same strategy could be applied and developed on for construction of different such similar structures across the city with varying function and typology. The scripts as an architectural device could be used separately or in combination as per design development. The project tries to break the notion of Urban Materials of Construction and gives a new vision to the future of Construction Technology.

We focused on different aspects of the ball, such as its making, uses, material, evolution, and effect on the economy. Billiards, being an indoor sport, has a lot going on behind its manufacturing as the table, the ball, and the cue stick are each made of three different materials. The ball, being smooth and shiny, is more dense than it appears to be. Billiard balls and the physics behind the rolling of the ball on the table somehow make the sport unique in its own way. The exercise helped us understand how different materials are being used in a single sport and how different these manufacturing processes are. Billiard Ball
