Interaction and Activity in a natural environment is the key focus of the competition. Narrative: The Amphitheatre is a fusion of various departments. The design provides a space where all the students come to unwind and just be themselves. To make it lively, the space is equipped with a musical niche with pre-installed instruments like a foot piano, a clap box and a xylophone. A watchtower stands in the middle of the amphitheatre, encompassing the banyan tree, giving the students a panoramic view of the space. The place is littered with crescent-shaped stools, and their retractable nature prevents them from being an obstacle. The college logo is seen in the form of a seating area, bordering the walls. It's the perfect spot for relaxing with the overview of the banyan tree, and it makes an excellent background for pictures. The logo is bordered with an LED lighting which compels you to stay and extend the experiential nature of the place.

Karan Danda : : : : : : : : : : : The exercise intended to explore the types and construction details of commercial design in high rise structures. The proposed design is a commercial tower, proposed to house 80 offices, spanning across 32 floors. Depending on the user and cost, the number of offices on each floor has been planned in the design. 4 levels have been conceptualised, so as to provide various combinations in the floor layout. A special emphasis has been laid on the planning of breakout spaces or terraces, so as to catch the fresh air in a commercial environment, something that is totally absent in the city. They also serve as refuge areas, and have been planned at every 25 metres. The parking provision is done in the basement, where as a 6 m double heighted podium has been provided for drop-off as well as cafeteria facilities. Furthermore, to cater to the interactive needs, several punctures have been created into the solid of the building, which not only reduces the bulkiness and mass of the building, but also serve as breakout spaces of private terraces to the office spaces, as seen in the plan. The skin and the elevation have been designed according to the orientation of the building, thus increasing the sunlight entering. Amey Mhatre : : : : : : : : : : : The project asked us to design a studio for the client, Sajeev Visweswaran, a visual artist and printmaker whose work was inspired by his life experiences. He has also focused on minimalist lines and drew on the tension between everyday activities. The design process involved getting to know the client by analyzing his artworks and taking note of his background and lifestyle. These observations were manifested through a small set of diagrams and sketches, which aided the overall design process. A few explorative models helped to arrive at a particular form. These resulted in the final design. The studio brings about fluidity through dominant geometry, which can also be perceived among the various drawings by the artist. Sanjay Mehta : Studio Conductors : : : Video Links : Increasing global urbanization has resulted in the decline of local biodiversity and suitable habitat for wild flora and fauna. Indigenous bees in particular are poorly understood and treated as pests. The lack of baseline information in India, encumbers the scientists who monitor their movements and fluctuations in population. In this study, melittological data has been compared and analysed to generate methods to integrate bees within the urban matrix in order to maintain the ecological balance of our metropolitan surroundings and build resilient cities. By comparing various biodiversity measures between open land and dense urban sites, through the lens of architectural mediation, a hypothesis was generated to provide and protect habitats of indigenous bee species. Urban interventions such as pollinator pathways, biodiverse green roofs etc, as potential avenues to provide patches of good-quality habitat to indigenous bees in highly developed regions have been discussed. Concerns regarding the phenomenon of nature deficit disorder have been addressed through the function of a Melittology center allied with a market, where citizens can view firsthand the impact of pollinators on their produce. Furthermore implications for pollinator conservation and urban agricultural production are discussed. Interaction and Activity in a natural environment is the key focus of the competition. Narrative: The amphitheater is one of the most activated public spaces on the campus of AOA. It’s an inclusive space in the presence of diversity. Here, students collect their shared memories during academics and it also represents the culture of the academy. Mapping of different activities within the amphitheater helped me to develop the primary idea of enhancing the built space. Considering all the activities in the amphitheater , the proposal put forward is to maintain and enhance the active ,cultural, inclusive and interactive qualities of space. The attempt was to thus develop a context which facilitates interaction. The space near the stationary is taken because of its active nature , where the small multipurpose space is created with some wood cubes made of existing timber of fallen trees. These cubes don't have any specific function and are placed to create ambulatory, imperfect and impermanent context for interaction. The 2nd intervention is to change the entire context of the dead corner space and make it more functional and interactive. The intention was to create more space for campus to use, by just modifying the existing plains.
