The exercise helped me understand the application of design principles in composition that creates visual harmony. It helped explore various colour schemes, alignments and text styles. Efforts were made to integrate basic principles of eye movement and flow, into the composed spread. Trying out concept sketches to decide the placement of texts and graphics on the encyclopedia spread helped decide on a more balanced composition. The importance of design principles - hierarchy, emphasis & rule of thirds, was understood through the composition process.
